January 28, 1955 - November 27, 2021
Our dear husband and brother, a kind and gentle soul, has passed leaving a void in our family. Michael was a man with a curious mind. He was an avid reader, knowledgeable and interested in many subjects. He loved conversation - his favourite topic being politics.
Michael had an easygoing manner and a relaxed sense of humour. He was a favourite uncle who had a wonderful way with children. He was always there to help with kindness and compassion.
Michael was born in Chilliwack and grew up in Hope, B.C. During his youth, he loved the outdoors, skiing, hiking and fishing. He was a competitive swimmer with the Hope Swim Club and enjoyed a lively game of tennis with his brother, Shaun.
As a young adult, Michael moved to Vancouver where he met his devoted wife of 30 years, Bernadette Chan. Together, they enjoyed exploring the city, especially its restaurants and street festivals. One of Michael's favourite places was Jericho Beach where he spent many happy hours swimming and fishing off the pier.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Edith and William. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Bernadette; sisters, Gail and Maureen (Ted); brothers, Gary and Shaun (Anita); many nieces and nephews; and the Chan family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
