June 2, 2024
With great sadness, the family of Myron Calmar Erickson announces his passing on Sunday, June 2 in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 83 years.
Myron will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife and partner of 52 years, Grace; son, Trent (KariLynn); daughter, Christy Peterson (David); grandsons, Griffin, Cory and Nathan; sister, Judy Moore; brothers, Dana (Patti) and Andy (Naomi); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Myron was born and raised on the farm in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan before embarking on a proud career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He served in British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Manitoba, before retiring after 21 years as a Sergeant and settling in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Upon true retirement, Myron and Grace set off on new adventures, living out their retirement years on the ranch in Hanna, Alberta, on the mesa in Ashcroft, BC, and in the valley in Hope, BC before heading back to the prairies of Medicine Hat. Special canine companion, Max, joined them in Hanna and remained devoted to Myron for all his years.
Myron was an incredibly proud dad and papa and loved hearing of the adventures of his grandsons. He could make friends with anyone, and he did, whether on coffee row or at the cribbage table. He had a way with horses and was always happy to get in the saddle or drive the team at Hat Creek Ranch. He was strong and steady-handed, and he will be missed greatly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local food bank. A celebration of life will be held later this summer. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, "The Chapel in the Park", Medicine Hat, Alberta.
