MARTIN, Neil. May 21, 1938 ~ June 26, 2011. Neil passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Fraser Canyon Hospital (Hospice).
He is survived by his wife, Pearl; daughters, Marian (John), Noreen (Ken), and Brenda (Bruce); Grandchildren, Kacie Noble, Kevin & Ryan Pankewich, Jasmine & Jake Webster, and adopted granddaughter Brandi Coull. Eileen Harper-DeLair spent her teen years with the Martins. Neil was predeceased by his mother Sally Vernon. Neil’s large extended family was involved in his upbringing, and he was especially close to them. He lived all of his life in Hope, and was proud to call Hope his home. He was a hard-working family man and his home was open to his friends. His backyard was his haven! Neil’s favourite pastimes were being outdoors listening to the birds, observing nature, and walking at the Hope Airport. He enjoyed going for his “coffee time” with his friends at the Hope Drive In. Neil was a dedicated employee for 40 years for Roy Morrow & Sons (Chevron). He was a volunteer with Hope Fire Dept. for over 25 years.
A gathering of family and friends to remember Neil will be held at the Hope Golf Club on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2 pm. Donations, in memory of Neil, can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada 5165 Sherbrooke Street West, Suite #300, Montreal, QC H4A 1T6,
