It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Perlett nee McCabe announce her passing on November 19, 2008. Up until July 2008 Norma lived in Fort Frances most of her life. In July Norma moved to Hope, BC to be with her daughter Jyl and son in law Fred.

She was born on April 19, 1920 in Fort Frances, ON to the late James McCabe and Elva McCabe-Nance.

She was united in marriage in 1942 to the late Clarence “Kelly” Perlett.

Norma was a kind soul who will be greatly missed by her family and so many close friends. She was extremely proud of all her grandchildren, especially her great grandchildren. Norma is survived by her two daughters Jyl (Fred) Tuck of Yale, BC and Diane (Richard) Bouchard of Red Deer, AB She has Seven grandchildren, Tammy (Gary) Shymko and Victoria (Ron) Allard of Winnipeg, MB, Jason (Jess) Bouchard, Nembia (Cam) Beddome , Nicole (Eric) Boles of Red Deer, AB, Kelly (Chris) Woods of Fort Frances, ON, James Perlett of Winnipeg, MB Also, her brother Donald (Wilma) McCabe of Fort Frances, ON As well she has 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norma has now been reunited with the love of her life Kelly, her son James and daughter in law Carole, her mother and father, as well as, her brother Gordon and sister Winnifred

Norma loved living in Fort Frances. She had a real passion for the water. In the evenings she would sit on her front porch and watch the river. She loved to be at the cabin in the summer doing various outdoor activities, especially anything on the lake. Throughout the years she met and formed special friendships with various people and loved and cherished each and everyone of them.

Norma had a wonderful life. She was an extremely dedicated member to The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 29 Fort Frances. She joined the auxiliary February 14, 1951. In 2002 she received a Lifetime Membership as well as the Meritorious Service Award. During her membership with the auxiliary she held numerous positions. Over the years she was a Deputy District Commander and a District Commander. At different times she was the Legion Secretary, Treasurer, President and First and Second Vice President. In 2006 she received a pin for 55 years of service.

Norma was also a member of the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for 24 years. She was the treasurer for 4 years and was on the Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Rainy Crest Home Auxiliary and the Royal Purple along with the Knox United Church Auxiliary and at one point was the Treasurer for the Fort Frances Curling Club.

A memorial service will not be held until the spring. If family and friends desire, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br #29 Fort Frances, PO Box 92, Fort Frances, ON , P9A 3M5
