March 7, 1937 - December 27, 2021
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norma Margaret Bowditch. A devoted wife, kind and helpful neighbour and friend to many.
Norma was born on March 7, 1937 in Canonbie, Scotland and departed this life on December 27, 2021 in Hope, BC. She was pre-deceased by her parents Margaret and Charles Earsman and her brother David Earsman in Scotland, her husband Ralph Bowditch, her niece Melissa Teichman and her step-daughter Carol Campbell in BC. Norma is survived by cousins and their families in Scotland, her sister Eileen Lawes and nephew Christopher Teichman (Theresa) on Vancouver Island, her step-sons Daniel (Ursula) and Michael (Linda) Bowditch, their families and Carol Campbell's family, all in the Lower Mainland.
Norma immigrated to Canada in 1965 following her sister. She became a Canadian citizen in 1977. She loved her various cats and dogs as well as the myriad of hummingbirds that came to visit. She was an avid gardener well known for her canned treats, especially her pickled beets. She regularly drove neighbours to Hope and Chilliwack for shopping and medical appointments.
Norma is sadly missed by friends in Hope and at Camper's Roost, nearby Emory Creek and the Hope River General Store, as well as other parts of BC, Canada and Scotland.
Thanks to those who cared for her at Fraser Canyon Hospital, Waverly Seniors Village and Fraser Hope Lodge.
As per Norma's wishes, no service is planned. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/) or charity of your choice in memory of Norma.
