Robert John (Bob) Hasell, passed away peacefully at 9:30 am on April 14, 2018 in Chilliwack, BC, at the age of 79.

Bob was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario to Robert and Rita Hasell (daughter of Emil Anderson) on May 1, 1938. He graduated from high school in Thunder Bay and then attended Queen's University, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Bob moved to Hope, BC in 1961 to commence his long career with Emil Anderson Construction (EAC). Bob worked as a Project Engineer, Superintendent, Estimator, Project Manager, Contracts Manager, and General Manager before being appointed Vice President of Operations in 1981.

EAC started as a road building and civil construction company and expanded operations to include bridge building, asphalt paving, mining, dam construction, land development, home building, railway maintenance and highway maintenance. Bob was Vice President until being appointed EAC President in January 1997.

Bob was a Past Chair of the British Columbia Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association and a Past Director of the Canadian Construction Association. He was a Past President of the Hope Golf Club and a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Hope Lions Club. He also very much enjoyed curling, hockey, tennis, golf, cribbage, travelling and family life.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rita, and sister Linda Carney (nee Hasell).

He is survived by his wife Keren Hasell; daughters Margot Hasell (Kelly Kornum) and Joanne Hasell; son Robert (Crystal) Hasell; four grandchildren Ava and Jack Kornum, and Robert and Isabella Hasell; sisters Mary Lou Jacobs of Hope BC, Roberta Coffey of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Irene Fietz of Okotoks, Alberta.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at the Hope Curling Club, located at 1055 Sixth Avenue, Hope, BC commencing at 1 pm on Saturday April 28, 2018. A reception with light snacks and drinks will follow.

Martin Brothers Funeral Home is handling the Memorial Service arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Auxiliary to Fraser Canyon Hospital and/or the Fraser Canyon Hospice Society, both at 1275 Seventh Avenue, Hope, BC V0X 1L4.

The Hasell family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Chilliwack General Hospital Staff for the tremendous care and support during Bob's final days.
