February 8, 1950 - December 2, 2020
Robert Wayne Hislop passed away peacefully in the home he built beside his loving partner Christine, with sparkling snow outside his window and a full moon shining over him.
Rob grew up in Hope, BC where he met and married Terry in 1974. They remained friends until her death in 2002. He continued living in Hope until he relocated to Barriere, BC with Christine in 2013.
He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his straightforward and honest nature, his high morals, and for always taking care of his family, friends, and neighbours. Rob was a skilled, fastidious, and creative carpenter and handyman.
He was sustained by percolated coffee, mashed potatoes, moose meat, a fire pit, and Christine. Rob will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered. A Celebration of Life will be held around a fire when it is safe to do so, hopefully in the spring of 2021
Born 8 February 1950 in Chilliwack, BC, and passed away 2 December, 2020 in Barriere. Beloved son of Charles Hislop and Victoria Margaret Hislop (nee Woods) and brother of Charlie (Marijke), Barry (Pearl), Diane (Glenn), and Debbie (Clayton).
He leaves behind his partner Christine, his son Rick (Deepa), and his special niece Becky (Jeff). Rob loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren, Aesha and Aydin, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews: Ernest-Jan (Ineke), Jeroen (Simone), Lorne, Russ, Tyler (Brittani), Tanis (Jesse), Shannon, Bry, Cassidy, Mason, Keane, Austin, Aleena, Kody (Layne), Macy, Rozemarijn, Juliette, and Gijs.
A heartfelt thank you to the Drs. and staff of the Barriere Medical Clinic, the Kamloops Cancer Clinic, Mikael Kjellstrom (community paramedic and neighbour), and the Barriere Home Health Care Team. A special thank you to Peter and Hilary Kennedy for their generous and loving care in his final days.
If you would like to contribute on his behalf, Rob's favourite charity was The Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (183 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto ON, M4V 1P1, www.mfpacanada.com).
