Roy Conrad
Born January 13, 1955 - Passed away June 1, 2017
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the untimely and sudden passing of my dear father, Roy Conrad, on Thursday, June 1st, 2017. Roy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 13th, 1955. He was the youngest of five children. At the age of two, his parents packed the kids up and headed out west to Vancouver where his father found work as a shipbuilder. Roy followed in his Dad’s footsteps and became a shipbuilder himself fifteen years later. He worked in the shipyards of North Vancouver for many years. Once Roy had a family of his own, he and his wife, Brenda, moved to Hope from Vancouver in 1987. Roy worked in the mountains as a logger through the late 80s and early 90s, and then later specialized in RV renovations and repair. Roy’s favourite activities included hiking, camping, and discovering old roads in the mountain passes around Hope. He enjoyed country air, early mornings, and a good spot of Canadian Rye whilst playing guitar and reminiscing about the good ol’ days gone past. He greatly valued his family, friends, and his little dog, Pepper. Roy is survived by his son: Joshua (Melissa) Conrad, sisters: Josephine (Michael) Fuhrmann, Doris (Nick) Ramage, and Irene Harper, and his many nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. He will be greeted with open arms by his mother, Eva, father, Roy Sr., brother, Dennis, and my mother, Brenda. There will be a Celebration of Life for Roy Conrad at his home, on June 24th, 2017 at 1:00 pm at his home in Hope, BC.
