Shirley DAVIES

July 2, 2006

DAVIES, SHIRLEY DELORES,

February 5, 1944 - July 2, 2006

It is with the deepest sadness we announce the passing of a great woman.

Shirley Delores Davies (nee: Lopushinsky) on July 2, 2006 to cancer.

Though it was so quickly diagnosed it just as quickly took her from loving family, friends and her little dog "DeeDee".

She leaves to mourn her passing, her seven children, Celina (Dwayne), James (Tracey), Henry (Sheila), Walter, Sophia, Richard, Mary Anne (Bob) & her 8th (kid), Darryl. Her ten grandchildren, Amanda, Jay, Nicolas, Tresselle, Matthew, Marissa, Benjamin & Clinton. Step-grandchildren, Crystal, Kathleen, James & Alissa, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Her sweet, sweet brothers will also miss their "little bird" very much. They are Jack, George (Ellen), Bob (Sherry) & Joe. Shirley was predeceased by her father Paul Lopushinsky in 1963, her husband, L. James Davies in 1980, her mother, Celina Lapka in 1985, Uncle Mike Lapka in 2003 and her brother, Richard Lopushinsky in 2004.

Our little "Chickadee" will also be missed by some super friends she had gathered over the years - "Special Sister" Marlene, her school chums Patsy and Colleen, her exquisite little family of friends in Hope, special friend Dave R and Sandy A. Greetings to all her friends on Seabird Island and throughout BC & Whitehorse. A lifetime resident of Langley and Hope, Shirley was an enterprising woman. Finding all sorts of work to help support her 7 seven children, aged 5 - 17 when she became widowed so young at 35 in 1980. She quickly got into the livestock and hay hauling industries in the 80's and segued into driving cab for Langley Cabs and Newton Whalley Taxi for years in the 90's. Shirley then started to take some time for herself in the last few years to perfect the art of canning salmon and all the veggies her friends would love to give her because, quite frankly, she was the best cook! And how we all loved her canned goodies!

Shirley loved a good bargain, clothes, recycling, bingo, casino'ing, music, playing cards, and a few good drinks with her friends and oh how she loved to laugh. Shirley also loved animals, gardening, traveling and watching classic movies, and her favorite soap-opera "The Young and the Restless" and checking up on all her kids, young and old, to make sure they were all keeping well.

We would be remiss if we did not give a very special thanks to Heidi "sis" Hoefer and Cheryl Lopushinsky (from Whitehorse) for their dedication to Mom, plus the nurses on the 4th floor at Langley Memorial Hospital and the staff at the Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, BC. Celina would like to personally thank Kim E., Sheila B., Joy G., and Jimmy Mac and his staff at Jimmy Macs Pub in Port Kells for their love, adventures and hugs!!!

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Langley Legion Hall on Eastleigh Crescent, Langley, B.C. on July 13, 2006 at 11am. Inurnment to follow at Murrayville Cemetery.

Love you Mommie Bear
