STRAKER, Shirley Christene
Shirley Christene Straker passed away Sunday, July 9th, 2006 in Fraser Canyon Hospital at the age of 74. She is survived by her children: sons, Allen (Vancouver), Michael (Vancouver) and daughter, Carol Minguy (Vernon), grandsons: Kevin and Colin (Vernon). Shirley was predeceased by her husband Michael on June 14, 2006.
Shirley was born on March 9, 1932 in Cornwall, Ontario. She graduated from nursing school in 1954, and that same year married Michael Straker. Shirley and Michael started a family, residing in Cornwall and Toronto. In 1975, they moved to the west coast, eventually settling in Hope in 1989. Shirley had an extremely generous and kind nature, donating her spare time to helping others. She was a volunteer driver for the B.C. Cancer Society for 9 years. She touched many lives with her thoughtfulness and will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Society. Anyone wishing to pay their respects may do so at Hope United Church, 310 Queen Street, on Saturday, July 15, 2006 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
