Sophie (nee Worobec)
Sophie Hamm-Rutkowski was born April 11, 1922 in Vermillion, Alberta and
passed away suddenly January 6, 2006 in Yale B.C. where she had spent the
remainder of her life. She was formerly of Port Alberni, B.C. from 1992 - 2004.
Sophie faced many challenges throughout her life and did so with great strength, pride and dignity. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, watching her favourite soap operas, listening to her favourite tune "Diamonds in the Rough" by the Carter family and helping out at the Women's Resource Center, for which she was thought highly of. Sophie leaves behind two daughters Elsie (Hamm) Hazelwood and Angelina Travis. Four grandchildren Karen (Cliff) Halliday, Robert (Selena) Hazelwood, Lon Bain and Jason Homey. Four great-grandsons Clayton, Clifford and Sean Halliday and Clint. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her and will remain in our hearts forever. "You will always be our angel watching over us." Funeral services were held Wednesday January 18, 2006 at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Cathilic
Church, 45940 Alexander Avenue, Chilliwack, B.C. Interment in St. Mary's
