Wally was born Nov. 30, 1931 and passed away Jan. 11, 2009 at the age of 77. He will be greatly missed by his wife Lynne, of 30 years, brother Albert Spidel, children; Pat, Ed, Elaine, Cliff and Steve, grandchildren; Michele, Robert, Jason, David, Ashley, Shaun & Bryan. Wally was predeceased by his parents Isabel & George Hatcher, sister Vera and son William.

Wally was born in Vancouver but resided primarily in the Fraser Valley - Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope. He will always be remembered as a hard working caring person. He worked in the forest industry driving truck as well as line hauling across Canada. In 1986 he and Lynne moved to Hope where Wally drove logging truck for Interfor. In 1994 when he retired he took up delivery of the Vancouver Sun and Province newspaper with his wife Lynne. They both worked with the Hope Standard, Chilliwack Progress and Abbotsford News doing flyers as well as paper delivery. In his spare time he did guard duty with the local Hope RCMP.

Wally loved to fish, hunt and camp as well as putter in his shop doing scroll saw projects. The two family dogs Sandy and Sheba are going to miss all the attention and lap time they received. Family and friends will miss his great Chinese cooking and all his adventures into new recipes as he liked trying new things.

Wally, the memories you have left with so many family and friends will be with us forever.

Memorial Service to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 344 Fort Street, Hope, B.C. on January 24, 2009 at 11 am.
