Good day, I happened to see your recent article of the local Hope Lions Club as I searched for any notes regarding my Dad.

Alfred (Al) Knox who was a member, past President (1960 I think), Zone Chairman and local jeweler.

Dad passed away in May of 1961 and I went to live with my mother, leaving my grandparents small farm in Huntingdon, south of Abbotsford after his passing.

Dad actively organized and put together the July 1st Loggers Sports competition for a number of years. I have very fond memories of summers in Hope from 1954 to 1960 and learned to swim at Kawkawa Lake as part of the swimming lessons undertaken by the Lions and the Red Cross.

By the sounds of it the same community spirit and values my Dad was part of along with Messrs. Scott, Corey, Kennedy, Dyson, Wejr, Anderson and Kettle (to name those I remember) is still alive and well. Keep up the good work to all the Lions members!
