More cautious driving required

Dear Editor,

Dear Editor,

Very pleased to see more and more bright yellow lawn signs sprouting up throughout our community—the wording: “Slow down. Caution, Children Playing.”

With school break just around the corner, this type of warning is necessary and can be very effective, no one wants an accident on their conscience.

The signs are supplied free of charge by a well-known emergency road-side assistance company whose name is on the signs, and our little town could only benefit from a lighter foot on the gas pedal through our streets.

In fact, Mr. Mayor, you have my vote for a general speed reduction on secondary streets from 50 to 30 k.m./hr. Even one accident avoided and it would be worth while.

Hopians, let’s see those signs go up! Mine is already proudly displayed.

Wes Chaulk
