Teachers need to give up on wage demands

What part of ‘there is no money’ do you not understand?

Teachers claim that their job action is ‘all about the kids.’ In one way they are correct as kids are the ones suffering the most as a result.

If it is truly about the kids, then give up your wage and benefit demands and concentrate on classroom improvements. After all, your last contract gave you 16 per cent and that’s in addition to regular incremental raises for seniority.

Now the nurses, hospital employees and BCGEU are climbing aboard the bandwagon and their contracts haven’t even expired yet. All feel they deserve a raise. Who doesn’t? What part of ‘there is no money’ do you not understand?
