Anyone attending the Abbotsford Canucks’ home-opener inside the Abbotsford Centre on Friday, Oct. 22 will now need proof of full vaccination.
The full vaccination will be required for all Canucks games and all events at the AC moving forward.
The new measure was one of several that the provincial government introduced Tuesday (Sept. 28) for the eastern Fraser Valley, including Abbotsford, as they deal with another surge of cases in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to Tuesday’s announcement, fans attending ticketed events in B.C. only needed to have one dose up until Oct. 24; after that, two doses will be required province-wide.
This meant that those with only one shot could have attended the home-opener. Now, that is no longer possible as all ticketed events in the eastern Fraser Valley require two doses.
All games will also be subject to 50 per cent capacity rules.
Single-game tickets for the American Hockey League’s home-opener go on sale for the general public on Friday (Oct. 1) at noon.
The Abbotsford News is awaiting confirmation on whether refunds will be available for people who will not be fully vaccinated in time for the Canucks’ home-opener.
