Chilliwack Chief alum Dennis Cholowski headlines list of BCHLers at NHL camps

The former first round draft pick heads into his third season with the Detroit Red Wings

Forty eight BCHL alums are going to National Hockey League training camps, including one Chilliwack Chiefs grad.

Defenceman Dennis Cholowski embarks on his third big-league season, after producing two goals and eight points in 36 games last season. The former first-round pick (20th overall in 2016) is joined by former BCHLers Taro Hirose (Salmon Arm Silverbacks), Danny Dekeyser (Trail Smoke Eaters), Kevin Boyle (Westside Warriors) and Troy Stecher (Penticton Vees).

Detroit leads the NHL in junior A skaters with five.

No other team has more than three, but 24 of the 31 teams have at least BCHL alum in the mix.

The Vancouver Canucks have two with Jordie Benn (Victoria Grizzlies) and Josh Teves (Merritt Centennials).
