Chilliwack Chiefs hockey boss Brian Maloney did what he set out to do at the Jan. 10 BCHL trade deadline, acquiring another forward.
The junior A club picked up Jack Seymour from the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, sending forward Daniel North the other way. North was picked up in earlier in the day from the Cowichan Capitals in return for future considerations.
Seymour, is a 20-year-old who produced 22 points (nine goals) in 35 games with Brooks.
Listed at five-foot-10 and 170 pounds, the Quebec product plays with speed and Maloney views him as a player who can contribute at both ends of the ice.
“We really feel like this is the final move in assembling a team for a long championship run,” he said. “Obviously, it has been tough the past couple of seasons, and tough to lose some good young players this week, but we felt as a staff we owe it to our fans and our players to really push towards our goal of winning a championship this season.”

Seymour has an NCAA commitment to Holy Cross.
To make the roster numbers work, Chilliwack dealt away a couple youngsters.
Forward Luca Grabas was sent to the Nanaimo Clippers and defenceman Joshua Orrico was traded to the Trail Smoke Eaters.
The return in each trade was futures.
In their most recent game the Chiefs topped the Surrey Eagles by a 3-1 count Jan. 7 at the South Surrey Arena.
They get the Eagles (15-13-0-0) again Friday night, this time at the Chilliwack Coliseum, with a 6 p.m. start.
The Coquitlam Express (7-16-1-2) are in town for a Saturday night matchup that starts at 7 p.m.
At 16-8-0-2, the Chiefs are second in the Coastal Conference standings, three points behind Langley with a game in hand.
Their .654 win percentage is fifth best in the 18-team BCHL behind the surprising Salmon Arm Silverbacks (.833), Penticton Vees (.815), Langley (.685) and West Kelowna Warriors (.655).
