The Chilliwack Jets appear to be in a very good spot heading into the Christmas break, even better if they can grab two more wins this weekend.

The Jets are riding a five game win streak and have two more games before taking some well-earned time off.

They have a home date Sunday (Dec. 19) with the Abbotsford Pilots at the Sardis Sports Complex, with a 5 p.m. start, and play their last pre-Christmas game on the road, Dec. 21 in Delta.

“We are on a bit of a roll here and hopefully we can keep it going,” said Jets hockey boss Clayton Robinson.

The win streak, to date, saw the Jets dump the Pilots 5-3 on Dec. 10, the Mission City Outlaws 6-5 on Dec. 11, the Ridge Meadows Flames 2-1 on Dec. 12, the Aldergrove Kodiaks 6-2 on Dec. 15 and the Surrey Knights 3-0 on Dec. 16.

The Flames win was a particularly big one, coming against the second place team in the Harold Brittain Conference.

“We played an almost perfect game to pull out that win,” Robinson said.

With a record of 16-8-1-0, the Jets are nipping at the Flames’ heels, just five points back with two games in hand. The Langley Trappers continue to lead the Harold Brittain Conference, but even there, the Jets are 12 points back with four games in hand.

And Robinson is tinkering with the roster with an eye on top spot.

Recent deals saw him sending forward Kaden Bolter to the 100-Mile Wranglers of the KIJHL, goalie Adam Winters to the PJHL’s White Rock Whalers and Liam Parrell to the PJHL’s Grandview Steelers, all for future considerations.

At the same time, Robinson beefed up the defence, adding 2002-born blueliner Owen Forfellow from the BCHL. The 19-year-old Abbotsford product saw limited action with the Nanaimo Clippers this year and previously played for the Coquitlam Express and Penticton Vees.

Robinson also acquired forward Conner Nelles from the KIJHL’s Chase Heat. The 2003-born skater was with Langley earlier this season. Between the Trappers and Heat he has three assists in 15 games.

“Looking to add one more forward also,” Robinson hinted.
