Chilliwack’s Green Light Inline Hockey League (GLIHL) is postponing its 2021-22 fall season until further notice due to COVID protocols, but GLIHL owner/operator Josh Schaper hopes to keep his members connected and engaged through a fundraiser for Cyrus Centre.
Cyrus Centre is a non-profit with locations in Chilliwack (45845 Wellington Avenue) and Abbotsford (2616 Ware Street) that offers services/programs and works to improve quality of life for vulnerable and homeless youth.
“During these times there are many youths in our community that are going to be facing challenges and will require more help and support than ever before,” Schaper wrote in an email to GLIHL members.
Schaper said 100 per cent of donations will go directly to Cyrus Centre, with a goal to raise $5,000.

A previous GLIHL fundraiser, held in early 2020 to bring in money for the Chilliwack Food Bank, raised $5,500.
“Any amount helps, but please do not feel obligated to donate as we understand that not everyone can afford to contribute right now,” Schaper wrote.
Donations can be made by eTransfer to firstname.lastname@example.org and anyone wishing to donate is asked to email Schaper with a donation amount along with an email and mailing address.
Donation receipts will be available upon request to individuals or businesses that donate $20 or more.
“Thank you to those that had already registered for the fall season and to everyone that has already made donations for the Cyrus Centre,” Schaper wrote.
