Manning Park: This is one of B.C.’s most-popular destinations

Climate and geography make this an all-season recreation area.

One of British Columbia’s most popular destinations is Manning Park, which has a huge number of walking and hiking trails.

Located in the Cascade Mountains, the park is massive, and at 83,671 hectares (323 square miles), it features a wide variety of climatic zones, ranging from coastal rain forest to dry interior.

Walking through the park is like hiking through history, including the Dewdney Trail, established as a major thoroughfare in mid-19th century to tie the Lower Mainland with mining camps and small towns that were springing up due to the pioneer gold rush era.

Other trails include the Hope Pass, Engineer’s Trail, and others, to name a few.

The park is used year-round.

Wildlife is abundant in the area, with more than 200 species of birds and more than 60 species of mammals.

Besides camping, the park also features Manning Park Resort, a year-round, family-friendly facility.

Although the park is closed during the COVID-19 crisis, check this website for its current status when planning your trip.
