While at a concert, have you ever recorded your favourite song?

In the age of glowing cellphone screens taking the place of cigarette lighters in the crowds, a few Canadian recording artists are speaking out about fans recording concerts on their phones, and where they draw the line.

Country star Dean Brody said he's okay with fans doing it, but it can become awkward during more "intimate" settings like at meet-and-greets, or special performances in front of a small audience.

"You'll see somebody kinda watching the whole thing through their phone,” he said, chuckling. "I don't mind it unless the flash is on so you're kinda blinded the entire time."

He added: "I don't know if you're fully able to take in a moment if your recording it."
