Communities in Bloom launches Hope car cleanup drive

It doesn’t have to run, but you could get a little dough to get your old car taken away

If you’ve got an old beater car with blackberry bushes growing out of it, there’s now an easier way to get rid of it.

Victor Smith says Communities in Bloom (CIB) is partnering with Cash For Cars to give people an option to remove the vehicles, trailers and other scrap residents might have lying around their yards. He hopes it will work better than previous attempts to get Hope yards cleaned up.

Smith said CIB is going to run the initiative as an ongoing one. It’s a simple process that only requires the owners of said vehicles or other scrap to call 604-855-1444 and arrange a pick up. Most vehicle owners get $50 back for each car that’s taken away, and anyone who wants to get rid of their campers there would be a charge for taking it away - just over $100.

“It doesn’t have to run,” Smith said. “It’s just to clean up the town, get all these cars gone…Any old scrap and stuff in the yard you want to get rid of.”
