Anne Kosichek was busy sanding and polishing two benches at the front of Hope Memorial Park on Wednesday morning, in preparation for the 2019 Chainsaw Carving Competiton.
The event draws in carvers from around North America, and runs Aug. 15 until Aug. 18.
Kosichek designed the benches, and local chainsaw carver Pete Ryan created them. They were donated two years ago to the District by Kosichek. Volunteers with Hope Communities in Bloom was also in the park Wednesday morning, getting ready for the carvers’ arrival. The competition kicks off Thursday morning at 8 a.m. in the park.
