The annual Make a Difference Sale in Abbotsford, which went virtual for the first time this year, raised its highest total ever: $320,000.
The event, normally held at Abby Stockyard on McClary Avenue, raises money for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
This year’s event ran online from March 8 to 11, with winning bidders picking up their auction items on Friday (March 12).
Items up for grabs included cattle, gift baskets, new tools, wheels of artisan cheeses, livestock feed/accessories and much more.

The 2020 total raised – $303,000 – had been the highest amount until this year.
“We are overjoyed with the generosity and support from all the businesses that donated, and especially all the generous farmers throughout the Lower Mainland, Interior of B.C. and Vancouver Island that donated cattle,” said event organizer Rob Brandsma.
“Our total wouldn’t be where it is if it wasn’t for their help and support.”
He also thanked the volunteer team and all those who participated in the online event.
Canadian Foodgrains Bank works with organizations in developing countries to meet emergency food needs and achieve long-term solutions to hunger.
