The Holly Days season is upon us here in Hope.

The annual campaign by Hope Community Services helps bring a little more joy to families, individuals and seniors every Christmas, through donations from the community.

They provide grocery gift cards, food, toys and gifts for low-income households. And one of the ways they collect these items is through local fundraising events. This year’s Holly Days campaign kicks off with some fun and games at Mountainview Brewing Co. on Nov. 4.

They’ll host a Trivia and Games Night Fundraiser, featuring Pint and a Pretzel, a Toonie Toss, a 50/50 draw and a silent auction.

Hope Community Services is looking for donated items for the silent auction portion of the night. They are anticipating a higher need this holiday season than usual, due to the pandemic.

Over the past year, they have served more than 4,000 meals to the community. They serve about 460 people per month through various programs, and 37 per cent of those people are children, while 23 per cent of them are seniors.

To help support the fundraiser, running from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., get tickets ($25) from Mountainview Brewing Co. or Hope Community Services. To donate to the silent auction, call Acacia Martin at 604-219-0675.

If you are in need of a Christmas hamper or extra help this season, watch for upcoming informationon how to apply through Hope Community Services.
