Get ‘Into the Wild’ at Hope Arts Gallery

Agassiz painter fills Backroom Gallery with new nature paintings

It’s time to go ‘Into the Wild’ at the Hope Arts Gallery.

They are excited to once again host painter Avalon Butchart from Agassiz in their Backroom space. Butchart is a professional artist who has expanded her passion for painting horses to wildlife, especially bears and owls. She also has moved into the world of sculpture. Her figures are made with air dried clay, some are resin dipped. She uses acrylic for painting and to finish her sculptures.

Butchart was enrolled in very intensive art courses throughout five years of high school. Since then, she is largely self-taught.

She has a Facebook site, under Avalon Butchart. Her new web site is: avalonartistry.com.

Butchart’s message to fellow artists is “Be brave!” She has gone from doing three inch paintings to five foot ones. She loves helping fellow artists grow their work and their businesses.

The show will run from Nov. 1 to Nov. 28 with the opening on Sat., Nov. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This is a time to meet the artist and enjoy refreshments. The Hope Arts Gallery is located at 349 Fort Street.

The gallery is also open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is operated by the Hope and District Arts Council and run by volunteers.
