The District of Hope are working to minimize the risk around Richmond Hill, after at least two rock falls from outcrops along Flood Hope Road in the past two weeks.
“We’re carrying on to minimize the risk there. But as you probably know, wherever you live in a mountainous area there’s always the risk of some fall. You cannot eliminate the risk completely,” said John Fortoloczky, chief administrative officer for the district.
February a geoscientist will perform assessments of rock outcrops throughout the district’s jurisdiction February. Routine inspection and assessments continue as well.
When asked whether the Richmond Hill area would require nets, Fortoloczky said the district would put up nets if recommended as a risk management strategy.
