An atmospheric river will hit the Fraser Valley this morning, according to a weather alert from Environment Canada.

Heavy rainfall ranging from 50 to 70 mm is expected for the Fraser Valley and the wider Lower Mainland from Monday morning (Dec. 4) into Tuesday (Dec. 5), with snow possible at higher elevations.

According to Environment Canada, the rain will ease on Tuesday morning.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” the weather alert reads.

Environment Canada says to watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
