District of Hope’s new council and mayor to be inaugurated Nov. 7

Two incumbents and four newcomers will make up the new council; former councillor to be new mayor

The inaugural meeting of the District of Hope’s newest council and mayor will open with Sue Martin singing “O Canada.”

The new council and mayor will be sworn in this Monday (Nov. 7), at the District Hall, in a ceremony that is open to the public.

Members of the new council includes incumbents Heather Stewin, Scott Medlock, as well as newcomers Angela Skoglund, Pauline Newbigging, Crystal Sedore, and Zachary Wells.

Former councillor Victor Smith will be sworn in as the new mayor.

The ceremony officially starts at 7 p.m.

The first official meeting of the new council will take place on Nov. 14, during which Martin will sing “God Save the King.” Council meetings are posted on the District of Hope’s website, under their “Meetings, Minutes, and Agendas” tab, and are recorded by the Hope Ratepayers Association for those unable to attend in person.
