With the clock ticking till the 25th, Hope wants to remind the community why the holidays are best spent here.

This Saturday (Dec. 3) Hope’s Holiday Fest will be back to delight everyone both young and old. And with the Grinch carving back for the season in Memorial Park, the event promises to be filled with plenty of festive cheer to kick off December.

“It’s an old fashioned Christmas thing in Hope just to go with your family,” says Mayor Victor Smith.

The festival is being put on by Hope Cascades and Canyon Tourism, Hope Chambers of Commerce, the District of Hope, and the Hope Standard. Taking place in the evening, it will start off with a public viewing of a tree lighting ceremony, at 6:15 p.m, at the District Hall. There, people can gather in front of the District to witness as the Hope Lions Club, along with Smith, light up the 21-foot tree on top of the building.

Following that, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a Rides with Santa will be available by donation of either a non-perishable/non-expired food item or cash to Envision Financial’s Full Cupboard. The themed ride, which is a decorated flatbed tow truck with Santa sitting in it, is sponsored by Hope Towing.

In addition to the planned activities, many shops in downtown Hope are planning on staying open late for the evening offering one-day only discounts. Popcorn and hot chocolate, sponsored by the Hope Lions Club, will also be given out in Memorial Park free of charge.
