The Hope Quilters’ fourth “Falling into Quilts” show will take place over the weekend (Sept. 24 and Sept. 25) at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
Quilt lovers will get the chance to peruse and buy a variety of handmade quilts and items. Everything made from the show comes from local quilters, many who are part of the Hope Quilters, who put up donations to charities throughout Hope and Chilliwack. This year, the group will be donating quilts and pillowcases to Camp Skylark, a camp for young children who have lost loved ones.
Sylvia Byers, a member of the Hope Quilters and one of the organizers for the show, says she hopes people will come out and continue to support their local quilters.
“There’s a lot of talented quilters this year. And we have a lot of things for sale this year including quilts,” says Byers. “We haven’t ever put up quilts for sale before. This year we’re also having a display of old sewing machines. One of our members is very much into that so she’s running that whole section.”
Aside from selling quilts, the group will be doing a raffle for a queen-sized bed quilt as well as a basket raffle. Tickets for both raffles are available at the show.
The quilt show is a recent addition to the Hope Quilters, who have been active in Hope for almost 3o years now. The first show opened in 2015 and was scheduled to take place every two years. This plan was changed due to the pandemic which forced the 2021 show to be rescheduled to this year.
Those interested in getting a quilt can attend the show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
