Small wildfires reported west of Agassiz

The first wildfires of the season in the Agassiz-Harrison have been recorded.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) has noted two separate wildfires between Harrison Mills and Agassiz on Wednesday, April 3.

The wildfires are currently under control and of minimal size; one is located on Mount Woodside while the other is nearby and characterized as “east of Stacey Lake. They have shown no signs of growth overnight.

The cause of the wildfires is unknown at this time.

You can help prevent wildfires by doing the following:

  • Obey fire bans where applicable and be aware of local regulations and restrictions.
  • Never leaving a campfire unattended.
  • Never discard cigarettes or matches into vegetated areas.
