UPDATE: Post office closed due to weather, bus service in Hope among cancelled transportation services

Ferries, airplanes, highways all affected as snow packs punch across the southern part of province

Transit:

With poor weather conditions hampering travel, that means there will also be no bus service in Hope or the rest of the Fraser Valley Friday.

BC Transit sent out the following information on Friday morning.

“Due to recent snowfall mixed with freezing rain and challenging driving conditions, service is currently suspended throughout the Central Fraser Valley Transit System, including Chilliwack, Hope and Agassiz-Harrison transit systems,” a press release stated.

“Our operating company is working hard to resume service and BC Transit appreciates your patience during this time.”

Weather:

A winter storm warning remains in effect in Hope. On Friday morning, Environment Canada is reporting the temperature as -12 C, -22 C with the windchill.

They are forecasting about 15 cm of snow in Hope today, with that precipitation turning to ice pellets overnight, with 5 to 10 cm of snow and ice accumulating overnight. The temperature is expecting to rise to -3 C on Saturday afternoon and the precipitation could turn to rain.

Post Office:

The Hope Canada Post office has just announced they will be closed today until Dec. 28. They are closed today due to the snow.
