B.C. Conservative Leader John Cummins is coming to Chilliwack Monday.

B.C. Conservative Leader John Cummins is coming to Chilliwack Monday.

Cummins has been touring the province promoting the party, but the upcoming byelection makes the Chilliwack-Hope riding a particular interest.

Details of Cummins’ visit were not immediately known, but after meetings here he is expected to continue on to Hope.

A nomination meeting date has been set for Jan. 17 for party members in the riding to choose a candidate – but no location has been selected.

So far, only conservative columnist and career criminologist John Martin has declared a bid for the nomination in Chilliwack-Hope.

Christine Clarke is expected to be acclaimed the party’s candidate today (Thursday) in the Port Moody-Coquitlam riding where another byelection is being held.

No dates for either byelection have been set.
