Election 2015: Conservatives name Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon candidate

Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon: Brad Vis selected to represent party in newly created riding.

The Conservative Party of Canada has a new candidate for the riding of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon.

Brad Vis was announced as the party’s candidate on Tuesday.

Vis was previously the communications and forward planning advisor to Abbotsford MP Ed Fast. He left that job to return to Abbotsford, where he had been working on agri-business development as an associate for Corpus Management Group.

Vis’s nomination comes nearly three weeks after it was announced that the party’s previous candidate for the riding, Liv Grewal, had been forced to withdraw from the race.

The Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon Riding includes areas of Abbotsford north of Maclure and Bateman roads, along with Mission, Agassiz, and several Fraser Canyon communities stretching up to Lillooet in the north.

Vis will square off against Liberal Jati Sidhu, Arthur Green of the Green Party and independent candidate Wyatt Scott. The NDP has yet to announce their candidate for the riding, but has a meeting scheduled for August 16 to pick who will run.
