Hope Fire Department was called out to extinguish a vehicle fire early Wednesday morning (June 15).
Fire Chief Tom DeSorcy said the fire happened at the Hunter Creek rest area around 4:30 a.m..
Initial reports suggested it was a structure fire, but when firefighters arrived they found a vehicle ablaze. No one was in the vehicle, but firefighters worked quickly, concerned that the fire might jump to the nearby forest. They were able to contain the fire and DeSorcy said no one was injured.
RCMP were also at the scene.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
