Fraser Health: Agassiz Seniors Community outbreak declared over

Most recent outbreak lasted for 18 days

There are no longer any active COVID-19 cases at the Agassiz Seniors Community.

Fraser Health announced the end to Agassiz Seniors Community’s second coronavirus outbreak on Monday (Dec. 28) afternoon.

“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at this location,” reads a release from the health authority.

This outbreak was shorter than the first outbreak in October, lasting 18 days through the Christmas holiday. From late October to late November, the first outbreak lasted 30 days.

The first outbreak was declared after one staff member tested positive for COVID-19; the most recent outbreak saw positive tests in one resident and three staff members.

In the same Monday press release, Fraser Health declared outbreaks at Rideau Retirement Residence in Burnaby and Brookside Lodge in Surrey. The Rideau outbreak involves five residents and two staff members while the Brookside outbreak involves two staff members. All involved parties are in self-isolation in their homes.
