Rambo-themed art exhibit planned for Hope’s First Blood anniversary event

The call is out to local artists as the town prepares to welcome Rambo enthusiasts in October

The call is out to local artists for Rambo-related works.

As plans for the 40th anniversary celebration of Rambo: First Blood are revealed, it has been confirmed that an art show will be involved. The Hope Arts Gallery held a successful exhibit in 2017, for the 35th anniversary celebration. It was a huge hit with fans of the 1982 action movie.

“So yes, we are doing it again,” said Tracy Paynter from Tourism Hope: Cascades & Canyons. “Time to get your creative juices flowing and come up anything First Blood or Rambo themed.”

It could be anything from sewing to drawing, clay to photography, crocheting to painting.

“Whatever you can dream up that has anything remotely to do with the movie – a character or a filming location – it’s time to get in on the fun,” Paynter said.

The 40th anniversary celebration of Rambo: First Blood, which was filmed locally in 1981, takes place over the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend, Oct. 7-10, 2022. The planned exhibit is open to all local artisans.

Inventory and waiver forms can be picked up at the Tourism Hope: Cascades & Canyons Visitor Centre (919 Water Avenue), seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The submission deadline to get a completed waiver and inventory sheet to theHope Arts Gallery (349 Fort Street) is Sept. 29.

The exhibit will run Oct. 5-9.
