The Hope Mountain Centre will host a fund-raising eveningfor local mountaineer Ron Hoglinon Wednesday, March 30 at the Blue Moose Coffee House (322 Wallace Street,Hope) at 7p.m.
Ron is the only Canadian to summit Mount Everest from both the north and south sides. He has devoted his life to climbing and has summited many of the world’s highest peaks -- more than 100 summits in all.
This is a special fundraising event in support of his latest goal – to climb Everest's North Face again, this time without the aid of oxygen.
Relax at the Blue Moose Coffee House and enjoy some spectacular slides of Ron's previoustrips to the Himalayas. You can make a donation ($10 requested) to help him finance his trip, which departs in April.
When he’s not climbing, Ron (age 52) is working and saving to bring his next adventure to fruition. He spent $45,000 on his first trip up Everest in 2004 and $25,000 on his second in 2007. He admits that when his body rebels from the stress of a big climb, the financial investment helps to push him to the top.
