Environment Canada has put a snowfall warning into effect for the Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass.
An unstable airmass over southern B.C. will cause an additional five to 10 centimetres of snow to fall by evening before tapering off into flurries, Environment Canada said.
A winter storm warning has also been put into effect for the Coquihalla Highway, from Hope to Merritt, but that section of the highway remains closed due to the damage caused by November’s flooding.
Environment Canada is advising drivers that weather can change suddenly in the mountains.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” Environment Canada said. “If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.”
