UPDATE: Semi-truck crash into snow plow caused Coquihalla Highway to close

UPDATE 10:00 a.m.

The Coquihalla Highway was closed northbound for more than eight hours because a semi-truck collided with a snow plow.

“Please slow down, don’t pass plow trucks on the right, and give our crews and equipment time and space to do their jobs, keeping BC highways safe for everyone,” says Yellowhead Road & Bridge Nicola Ltd. in a Facebook post.

UPDATE 8:50 a.m.

The Coquihalla Highway has reopened northbound.

Traffic congestion is expected in the area.

A vehicle crash has the Coquihalla Highway closed northbound.

According to the DriveBC website, the crash occurred around Larson Hill (exit 250) but the DriveBC X account states the crash happened two kilometres south of Merritt.

The crash happened just before midnight.

An assessment is in progress and an alternate route is available.

DriveBC’s next update is scheduled for 8 a.m.
