June 4, 1926 - August 15, 2019
Bertha Marie Kelley nee Messer 93 passed away on August 15th with her caregivers at her side. Bert was born in Tisdale Saskatchewan June 4, 1926 to the late Charles Messer and the late Angilina Messer both of Tisdale.
She is survived by her brother Ernie Messer of Cupar Saskatchewan her son Richard John Messer, daughter in law Helen Messer a grandson Shane John Longman of Kamloops BC, grandson Arick Messer of Thailand, grand daughter Denise Louise Messer of Williams Lake BC and 3 great grand daughters Kailee, Karlee and Bryn Messer all of Williams Lake BC, along with many other nephews, nieces and relatives in Saskatchewan, Chicago IL and the US.
She is predeceased by her parents Charles Messer and Angilina Messer, her sister Earla Arndt of Chicago IL USA, her husband Murray Kelley of Hope BC and numerous other family members.
Bert was a feisty, independent woman, often saying "Nobody is going to tell me what to do" she took great pride in her home which was newly built in 1997. She worked hard all her life as a chef, cooking at various restaurants until her retirement. Bertha had a special love for the hummingbirds and had a crow she fed daily named "Ziggy". Bert will be missed by her family and friends and the people who had the opportunity to have known her and her spunky attitude.
The Messer family would like to thank the staff of the Fraser Hope Lodge, especially the girls of 400, their compassion and care for her was exceptional. Thank you all, and God bless each of you.
Bert requested that there would be no service. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
