On March 29th 2024, after a stoic battle with cancer, John passed away with his loving family by his side.
John was born in Chilliwack but grew up in Hope where he created many childhood friendships that lasted a lifetime. After high school John attended BCIT where he studied hotel/motel management.
He later started work at a hotel in Port Moody where he met the love of his life Denise, with whom he spent 43 years of marriage. John and Denise moved to Hope where they raised their family and spent many happy years together.
John was a treasured member of the community and was an active member of the Hope Fire Department, Rod and Gun Club, Curling Club, and Lions Club. He spent 45 years working at SuperValu/Buy and Save Foods where he became Produce Manager.
He enjoyed his job, but most of all loved the interactions and friendships he made over the years with co-workers and customers. You could always rely on him to offer friendly service, fresh produce and a funny joke to make you smile.
John had a passion for hunting and fishing, but nothing made him happier than being with family and friends.
John is survived by his adoring three children, Byron (Nicole), Jason (Hannah) and Camille (Paul), his beloved grandchildren, Kinsley, Cameron, and Graydon. Also left to mourn his loss are John's siblings, Lucia and Franco (Marlene), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
John was predeceased by his wife Denise, his father Ernesto, and mother Antonietta.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and care staff at the Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope for their attentive care of John and the additional support to the family through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency.
A memorial service will be held for John on May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack, B.C. V2P 4J4. Following the memorial service there will be a reception at the St. Mary's Church Hall.
