December 26, 1940 - March 2, 2019
It is with great love, sadness and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Hans Rueger. He died peacefully on March 2, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kim Ledoux (Trevor). He was a cherished Opa to his grandson, Ryder.

Hans was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on December 26, 1940. He worked as a miner his entire life. Hans started in the coal mines of Germany and continued to work throughout the world until he retired from the job he loved at 55.

Hans married a young Irish lass, Margaret and together with Kim, moved to Canada for a new adventure. Although they divorced, Hans and Margaret maintained a life-long friendship that spanned four decades.

Throughout his life, Hans worked hard and played hard. In his younger years, he spent most of his time travelling and exploring the world. He loved Brazil and anywhere else tropical. He loved the heat, white sandy beaches and hot weather.

When he wasn't working, you could always find Hans sitting at his dining room table working on a puzzle. Any of his friends and neighbours on Stephens Road know he would never turn down a cold beer and a chat.

After he retired, Hans spent his days in his garden on Stephens Road in Kawkawa Lake. He loved to grow strawberries and raspberries, especially for Ryder. Hans touched many lives and hearts. We will forever remember his sense of humour and interesting conversations, his sparkling eyes, his constant patience and gentle kindness.

Thank you to all the caring staff at Fraser Hope Lodge.

Ich liebe dich, Daddio/Opa

As requested, Hans did not want a formal service. Instead, in honour of Hans, please enjoy the sunshine and have a cold beer with someone you love. Prost!
