John (Jack) Simpson passed away peacefully at home in Vernon on July 18, 2023. He was born in 1928 in Calgary, growing up in Drumheller and Calgary.

He took his electrical apprenticeship with the city of Calgary. His career as an electrician took him to work in the gold mine at Bralorne; the CPR in Calgary, Revelstoke and Kamloops; sawmills in Canal Flats and Maple Ridge. He also taught electrical apprentices at Pacific Vocational College.

In August 1953 he married "the girl next door" Sylvia Ford. Jack was a family man who gave back to his communities. He was involved with the Boy Scout movement and taught St Johns First Aid.

The Anglican church was an important part of his life and he often served on church councils. He took part in the M-2 Program, a prison visitation ministry.

In retirement they moved to Sunshine Valley, Hope and he became involved with their volunteer Fire Department and Gideons International.

This quiet, giving, and supportive man will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is predeceased by his brother Walter, sister Olive, his wife Sylvia and grandson Jeremy.

He is survived by his children Ruth, Vernon: Lois, Cranbrook: David (Sabine), West Kelowna: his second wife Bernadette, Hope: 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, Vernon Saturday October 7, 2023 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations to pwrdf.org.
