Ken STANLEY

May 9, 2010

STANLEY, Ken T.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend Ken Stanley at the age of 62 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.

He was called home to his Lord on May 9th 2010.

Ken was predeceased by his parents Ron and Martha Stanley. He is survived by his brother Reg Stanley (Robin), nieces Margaret and Elizabeth of Calgary.

Ken lived in Naniamo B.C. from 1950 - 1989 where he worked for Mayo Lumber Co., Ocean Cement, and Reg Dorman Trucking until 1982. He then worked for V.O.T. Transport in Delta B.C. as a lease operator. He moved to Hope B.C. in 1989 and continued to work for V.O.T. Transport which was later bought out by Canadian Auto Carriers, Auto Haulaway and then Allied Systems Inc. Ken sold his Auto carrier in 1997 and bought a gravel truck, and worked around Hope B.C. until moving to Calgary in 2002 where he worked for various companies driving his gravel truck as well as other company owned trucks for P.A. Singer Trucking.

Ken was a big man with a heart of gold. He loved to engage in conversation by the hour with anyone who had time to do the same. His favorite topics were politics, current events, old cars, trucking, and his early days around Naniamo. He made friends with almost everyone he met and would be quick to help anyone who needed it. Ken will be sadly missed and always remembered by the many friends he had from Naniamo to Hope to Calgary.
