In loving memory ~

After a short but valiant battle with cancer, Ken passed away peacefully on November 13th at the age of 70 with his loving family by his side.

Born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Ken was an avid athlete from a young age. He excelled in all sports in both elementary school and secondary school. Following secondary school, Ken attended the University of Western Ontario, where he played Football for the Mustangs. While at Western, Ken met his wife Lynne. Following graduation from Western, Ken and Lynne moved west where Ken completed his teaching degree and played football for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

Ken began his working career in 1976 in Hope, BC and taught at CE Barry School and Hope Secondary School before eventually retiring in 2011 from Sardis Secondary School in Chilliwack, BC. After retirement he continued to coach at GW Graham Secondary School. Throughout his 35 years of teaching he was a well loved PE teacher, athletic director, mentor and coach. Well known for his involvement with basketball Ken influenced the lives of many student athletes in the eastern Fraser Valley. Ken was an avid golfer and spent much of his free time on the course at Hope Golf and Country Club and then Chilliwack Golf and Country Club.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Lynne of 48 years. He was a devoted father to James Heise (Isabelle), Courtney Kosheiff (Kelly) and Megan Ennew (Paul) as well "Papa" to Sydney, Hannah, Blake, Alfie and William. Ken was predeceased by his mother Marilyn Heise, and survived by his father William Heise, and his siblings Marsha Rand (Wayne) Bill Heise (Yvonne) and Patti Ryan (Dave). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, many longtime friends, and golf buddies.

In honour of Ken's wishes a private family service will be held, followed in the spring by a celebration of his life.
