Leanne Gibson

Leanne Patricia "Ranger" Gibson, 44, died Friday, September 28 2018 at her cabin oasis in the woods in Hope, BC. After a courageous fight with cancer, she passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her loving father Barry Gibson and stepmother Brenda (Hope), older sister Chantal (Vancouver), younger sister Jenn, brother-in-law Shaun, adored nephew Declan (Dawson Creek) as well her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins and her extensive family of friends and god-children.

Leanne was preceded in death by her beloved mother Lorraine Gibson in 1986.

Leanne was born in Oshawa, Ontario April 16, 1974 and later attended public school in Mackenzie, BC. She ran track, practiced karate and downhill skiing and played trombone in the school band while being on the honor roll. She attended Carlton University, Simon Fraser University and worked in the pulp & paper industry. A life-long learner, she received her degree in Power Engineering from NAIT in 2011.

A member of The Canadian Rangers, Leanne was also a member of the Hope Rod and Gun Club. Among her many interests she enjoyed the culinary arts, beekeeping, kayaking, gemology and music. Disco, rock, R&B, she loved concerts and had a t-shirt collection to prove it. An avid traveler, Leanne visited Spain, Mexico, Peru, and completed her dream to go on an African Safari with Jenn in 2015.

A Hope resident for four years, Leanne found friends and fellowship at Grace Baptist Church. Two years ago, she went to Guatemala with Impact Ministries. Known for her smile and her candid sense of humor, Leanne attracted a universe of friends. One 'shaker,' one 'palooza,' her gift was her ability to bring different people together. A shiny star fallen too soon, her light will resonate with us forever.

The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the Fraser Health nurses and care workers, to Jeff and Angela Kuhn and the GBC community, and to friends and family for their love, prayers and support.

Leanne's Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 am.
