June 17, 1935 - January 25, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Masao Kawaguchi, age 83, on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Sanoviv Medical Institute, Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. His wife Judy of 54 years and son Todd were at his side.

Mas was predeceased by his father Chonosuke, mother Haruko (Dorothy) and sister Masaye. He is survived by his wife Judy and son Todd (Brandy) and 4 grandsons: Jordan, Joshua, Aidan and Griffin. He aslo leaves behind a sister Kazuko and brothers: Yuji (Susan), Izumi (Donna) and Kazuo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mas was born at Great Central Lake near Port Alberni on June 17, 1935 and was relocated during WWII to Tashme, now Sunshine Valley. The family was repatriated to Japan but returned to Canada in 1953 when he started to work in the logging industry. After 48 years, he retired in June 2000.

Family was the focal point of his life. He enjoyed coaching his son baseball and hockey and later, he continued to watch his grandsons and nephews play competitive hockey. He was always game to travel with his family whenever and wherever there was a hockey game to be played.

Special thanks to Dr. S. Patrascu, Dr. Francisco Ulloa and his medical team at Sanoviv Medical Institute.
